Explore the ancient city of Ephesus on our guided tour, departing from Izmir. Our driver will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the tour location. Once you arrive, the first thing you’ll see is the magnificent Magnesia Gate, an impressive example of ancient architecture and the main entrance to the city. Your guide will then lead you on a walk through the city’s ruins, passing by the Odeon, Celsus Library, Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan, and the Great Theater. The theater, which once held seating for 24,000 people, is believed to be the site where St. Paul preached to the Ephesians. It is also one of the city’s best-preserved monuments and still used today for the local spring festival.
After the Ephesus tour, we will take a drive to the House of Virgin Mary. We will first have a break for lunch at a local Turkish restaurant before visiting one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Temple of Artemis. We will also visit the Isabey Mosque, a holy site that offers a sense of serenity. The House of Virgin Mary, where she spent her final 5 years, is one of the most important sites on the tour, and it is a popular destination for Christian pilgrimage. It has been previously visited by Pope Leo XII and Pope Benedict XVI.
